THE TEENAGE YEARS (2016)

You have to put your angst somewhere. But when you’re on the cusp of adulthood no one really believes what you’re feeling is real. Even if its the realest thing you’ve ever known. Some of the stories behind this piece remain untold today. So, I’ll allow my past self describe this piece, because this is her’s.

This transparent series is a physical representation of my confrontation with aspects of my life that I feared. This piece allowed me to explore how others interacted with hidden parts of me when presented in a conceptual, minimalistic form. The perfection of the text laser cut into the panes creates tension with the vulnerability of the material’s transparency and the unpredictability of the shadows the text cast.
